Strayhorn Should Be Indicted Because Her Take on the Middle East Conflict Is Different From Mine
RECEIVED Mon., Aug. 14, 2006
Dear Editor, Texas Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn and the Texas Treasury should be indicted under Homeland Security laws for helping to fund a terrorist organization. In 2005, the Texas Treasury purchased $2 million in new State of Israel bonds and renewed $2 million in bonds. Strayhorn is quoted as saying, "State of Israel bonds have been and will continue to be an important part of the treasury's investment portfolio. These bonds have proven to be a sound investment and will pay solid dividends for Texas for years to come." As of last year, the Texas Treasury (i.e., the people’s money) had a total investment of $20 million in State of Israel bonds. Strayhorn also said, "This is the highest level of investment in State of Israel bonds since Texas began purchasing them in 1994. I am a staunch believer in the state of Israel. The Texas Treasury's investment in State of Israel bonds has increased 67 percent since I took office." Israel is exercising state terrorism against Lebanon. The Texas Treasury needs to divest these funds. And Strayhorn should be prosecuted.
