What Could Happen

RECEIVED Fri., Sept. 2, 2005

Dear Editor,
While New Orleans and the Gulf Coast were being destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, our fearless leader was playing golf. He later gave a speech promoting his tired, failed Social Security reforms, as well as another pep rally for the failed war in Iraq. It's like he`s too busy fighting Cindy Sheehan ... the greatest disaster to befell the nation, and he`s typically on vacation. He seems to always be on vacation, though. Whether it's August or January ... eventually, he would survey the damage – from 5,000 feet – as he flew over.
Bush has certainly earned his record-setting low marks in the various polls. It`s just jaw-dropping, this total disconnect from reality, be it global warming, the suffering of common people, or Iraqi pipe dreams. Truly, this guy is a fraud, from snout to tail, worthy of challenging Warren Gamaliel Harding or Ulysses S. Grant for most corrupt/inept administration on record.
Can we impeach him? Yes. When we tilt the balance of power in the upcoming 2006 midterm elections, we will have enough votes to do the job. If the GOP isn`t worried, they ought to be. Once we start realizing that 45% of the National Guard from Gulf Coast states and all of the equipment we need to help rescue stranded people is sitting over in Iraq, well, it's going to be time to reap what Bush hath sown.
This is what happens when scoundrels lead a great nation.
Sincerely,
Tim Abbott
