Drivers Need to Respect Bicyclists and Bicycle Lanes

RECEIVED Wed., Oct. 13, 2004

Dear Chronicle,
Today while I was riding my bicycle to work, in the bike lane, someone in a white car cut me off. While still on her cell phone she proceeded to point, honk, and shake her fist at me. She cut me off! What the hell! This is not the first time this has happened to me. I was wondering why a city that spent who knows how much on a party for Lance Armstrong could hate the bikers who actually still live in Austin so much. If people really respect the feats o' Lance so much, they need to be a bit more respectful of bikers in general. We have laws that protect us, too. It would do well for Austin drivers to learn them.
