Shame on Us

RECEIVED Mon., Aug. 9, 2004

Dear Editor,
   Ewww, it's a conspiracy!
Look, I don't know enough about the ACTV issue to comment on it. But Mike Clark-Madison's attack on Alex Jones is reminiscent of an Anne Coulter piece ["Austin@Large," News, Aug. 6]. You may not like Alex Jones; some dislike his style or delivery, some find his tactics distasteful, but I can tell you one thing: He has been right more often than not, and this is provable. His films present his theories backed up by voluminous mainstream documentation. Calling him an asshole? That's right, forget about the point he wants to make; just launch into a personal attack instead. A favored loser's tactic in any debate. In short:
A makes claim B; there is something objectionable about A, therefore claim B is false.
   Shame on "alternative" Austin Chronicle.
Clark-Madison, why don't you stick to nice things like explaining the joys of Hanukkah to little children.
