Kill the Killer Ants Naturally

RECEIVED Wed., March 31, 2004

Dear Editor,
Since we live in the "Land of Fire Ants," thought this killer remedy would be valuable to your readers.
Most everyone has this killer remedy in their kitchen cupboards. What is it?
Cooking oil: you know, Wesson oil, Mazola oil, whatever brand one uses.
Add one stick: you know, a wood stick, formerly a tree product.
Application: Gently stir top of fire ant nest. Be careful not to get the little buggers on ya. Add one cup (more or less) of oil. Stir well. Add additional cups depending on the size of the nest. Continue stirring until mound resembles oil stirred into granulated sugar. I've used about two cups on medium-sized mounds.
Leave it alone. In about three days, the mound begins to disappear. Just checked my little "adventure" tonight, and after a thorough stirring of what remains of the mound, could find no live ants. It has been about a week.
There ya' have it. Killer cooking oil. Mix well. Nontoxic and cheaper than all those toxic chemicals we spend billions of dollars on annually.
No, I am no "scientist" – just figured that something the size of an ant, coated in oil or eating their oil-soaked dead, would likely do the trick.
It appears to have worked. Give it a shot, and see what it does for you!
