Amazed at Us, But Not in a Good Way

RECEIVED Wed., Dec. 3, 2003

Mr. Black,
I find it amazing that you allowed Shawn Badgley's comments about Jessa Crispin to run in your newspaper. Last I checked, it was a perfectly reasonable thing to have an opinion on a city in which you lived. Mr. Badgley had absolutely no reason to make such a snarky comment about Ms. Crispin, let alone ramble about his and/or her drunken escapades.
You wonder why Jessa complains about the Chronicle's literary content? This may be the best example – Badgley is wildly egotistical and touchy. And to make matters worse, I rarely see him at the many literary events that occur in Austin. Seems rather strange.
Yours,
Ben Brown
