Chronicle Should Cover All Texas Music

RECEIVED Wed., Sept. 10, 2003

Hey Austin from San Antonio,
Not to be too distant or intimate, but I was, frankly, grateful to Monsieur L. Black's admission and pride about Le Chronicle being Austin-focused (versus Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, etc.) ["Page Two," Sept. 5], and, of course, I was pissed off.
I love The Austin Chronicle; I also love to do what lots of Texans do, utilize their critical faculties about what is left out of every single issue in your rag, i.e., your connections to the state of Texas, conflicted as it is.
Obviously, there is music from Tulia to Cotulla, and y'all can't get it all, but, sometimes, you could remind all those recycled Stevie Ray bands in Austin that this is un estado bilingue, and there is still much underground (aquifers and music scenes, por ejemplo), that Austin could, uh, benefit from.
Love,
Luisa Inez Newton
