    Esther's Follies

Esther's Follies – Austin's not-so-secret weapon in the fight against ennui – the comedy gem that still dazzles this growing urban hub – returns to the weekly live and in-person stage of their club on Dirty Sixth, the whole troupe bringing back old favorites and debuting a new program of hilarity with topical, ripped-from-the-headlines sketches and musical numbers. And you do need a laugh or two, right about this time, don't you, citizen? (And how about a margarita to go with that?) We'd add that the mind-boggling illusions of magician Ray Anderson are a bonus in the night's clever spectacle … but, the way that arch maestro conjures mystery and delight, "bonus" would be an insult.
    Thu., 7pm; Fri.-Sat., 7 & 9pm. $30-40.

    Sunday Masc

If you’re a queer person missing the weekly ritual of Sunday mass but wish it was just a little bit gayer, Cheer Up Charlies’ newest event “Sunday Masc” may be up your alley. The event will feature an array of blasphemous activities, including a holy water wet T-shirt contest and a religious-themed drag king show. The show will be hosted by drag performer Arby’s (no relation), and features the performers Atlas Mars, Trey Devine, Tiny Taurus, Gerry Mander, Mx. Hot Lunch, King Jason Taylor, and Gender Destruction. Come dressed in your Sunday best and bring your church fan – because things might get a little steamy. – Gabrielle Grace Hogan

    The Bachelorette Viewing Party

Ahoy, Bachelor Nation! For a new season is upon us: the 21st, in fact, belatedly featuring the series’ first Asian Bachelorette, Jenn Tran. This show is always bonkers, especially at the beginning with the endless parade of suitors battling it out for any morsel of screen time, so you don’t want to watch alone! Starting this Tuesday and continuing weekly, take in all the romance, the laughs, the cringe with hosts Kino Kino and Gender Destruction. This week’s very special guest is Queen of Tuesgays Diamond Dior Davenport, and DJ deadlao5 will offer beats as well as commentary on what’s sure to be an unreal premiere. – Kat McNevins
    Tue., July 9
