The Shiny and Oh So Bright tour, an uncharacteristically crowd-pleasing endeavor from the alt-era titans, marks the first run by Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin in 18 years – bass jobber Jack Bates replacing uninvited original fourth D’arcy Wretzky. The Chicagoans’ hairless frontman remains easy to hate – his favorite Austin journalist is Alex Jones – but hard not to love when he’s sampling Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie & the Infinite Sadness, which monopolize the tour’s set list. – Kevin Curtin
