Durand Jones & the Indications have a deep-running groove that combs the dusty bins of classic soul 45s for influences. The Louisiana-raised singer assembled the band while at college in Indiana, recording their 2016 eponymous bow on a sub-$500 budget. Opener “Make a Change” best showcases their putting drums and often blown-out vocals in the forefront, letting the brass slowly bleed into the verse for a sax solo.
