    KOOP Nightbeat Film Series: 20 Feet From Stardom (2013)

    Oscar upsets don’t come much bigger than a charming documentary about backing singers overturning a slate of heavy hitters about global political turmoil. Yet that’s exactly what happened in 2013 when 20 Feet From Stardom beat out The Act of Killing, chronicling mass killings in Indonesia, and the history of the Egyptian crisis in The Square.
