South by Southwest Film Festival 2015

REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Fri., March 20, 2015

Did you think you were out of the movie maelstrom because the SXSW Music Fest is now kicking into high gear? Fat chance! SXSW Film continues screenings through Saturday, albeit with a few minor variations. Wonderful films will be showing for their third or final screening, so look through the collection of what we’ve reviewed so far online and in print (turn to the Screens section of this very issue, and last week’s print supplement previews) for pointers. (And while we’re parsing out links and addresses, follow us for up-to-the-minute news on Twitter at @ACScreens and @ChronSXSW.) All the films in the music-related 24 Beats Per Second section will be in heavier rotation during this time.

For the first time this year is that holders of Music badges will be given free admission to the films in 24 Beats Per Second section, so check out our "SXSW Film Pro Tips" if you’re a newbie to how the film entrance lines work and the various theatre capacities. Screenings at the Rollins Theatre at the Long Center end Wednesday, and at the Violet Crown Cinema and the Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter on Thursday. Also stay tuned for the titles of various Buzz Screenings yet to be announced during the final days, as well as reprise screenings on Saturday of the many award-winners. Most of all, go out and be part of making Austin a great town for moviegoing.
