My Gay Movie 2002

NR Directed by Various.

REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Tue., June 18, 2002

Sponsored by the Austin Gay & Lesbian International Film Festival, this second annual My Gay Movie competition will screen the winners locally this week before it begins distributing the package to festivals worldwide. Entries from last year's package achieved some wonderful notice and success. Films that were submitted were required to be no longer than eight minutes and have “a gay sensibility and of course be totally fabulous.” The 23 entries were whittled down to the 12 showing in this program. Included are "A Word From Our Sponsors" by Nina Knapp, "The Right Girl" by Theresa Brown, "Injustice Woman, Episode One: Osama Drama" by Ric De Barros, "Pretty as a Picture" by Deborah Abbott, "The Best Several Minutes" by Ignacio Davis, "Cigaretts" by Elena Tchoujchenko, "Fade to Pink" by the Gay Youth Media Project, "Five Words" by Bethany Miller and Beth Gleason, "Toaster" by Deborah Abbott, "Sexy Boy" by Jackie L. Hopper Jr., "Rector" by Lodger, and "Oddly Happy" by Brian Arceneaux. After the screening, awards will be handed out to the best of the best, and the presentation will be hosted by Jenn Garrison.
