REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Tue., March 5, 2002

Esmeralda is simultaneously married to five men. She is about to marry her sixth when the moral authorities intervene. For this woman, marriage is an act of liberation and erotic expression. This winnner of five Arieles, Mexico's top film prize, has also been Hermosillo's most widely seen film in the U.S. Hermosillo will be in attendance at the screening.
