REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Wed., Aug. 15, 2001

QT5 is the fifth go-round for this unique, only-in-Austin film festival in which Quentin Tarantino programs and presents 10 days of film screenings culled from his personal archives. The selections are as wide-ranging and as ungovernable as the man who chose them. Tarantino's introduction to each film provides lots of colorful and insightful information as he shares his wide knowledge and enthusiasm before joining the audience to watch the movie. For more on QT5 see related story on p.52 in this week's Screens section. Screenings begin at 7pm Monday-Thursday (most screenings are double bills, some are triple bills), 8pm on Friday and Saturday, and noon on Saturday for the kiddie matinees. Ten-day festival badges are $125/$115 AFS members; five-day festival badges (any five days) are $75/$70 AFS members; single-night passes are $30 for Friday and Saturday nights and $20 during the week. Saturday Morning Film Club screenings are free for kids and their accompanying adults only (kid-less adult fanboys will only be allowed in if the event does not sell out and they will have to pay). Priority seating for badge and pass holders begins at 6:15pm and 7:15pm respectively. Program is subject to change without notice.
