La Rosière De Passac I & II (The Virgin of the Pessac I & II)

Eustache was interested in capturing the passage of time and the evolution and transformation of society in these two hourlong studies. Prior to the uproar of 1968, Eustache went back to the village where he was born and filmed a local ceremony that honored a young girl voted the town's most virtuous. Eustache returned in 1979 and filmed the ceremony again, in exactly the same manner. The comparison between the two results is a tangible encapsulation of time. These films are shown without English subtitles.
