    Participate in Viva México: Kids' Art Contest

    A visual arts contest for kids to create original works of art to celebrate Mexican Independence Day. Children ages 5-12 submit photos of their artwork, and images will be posted on the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center's Facebook and Instagram pages Sept. 12-18 and will be highlighted during the MACC's 16 de Septiembre event. Winners will be selected based on the number of likes they receive and will be sent a prize package of arts supplies and MACC swag. Winners announced Sept. 20.

    Join Texas Campaign for the Environment for this 10th annual event, a contest for fashion designers, stylists, and models to create original high-fashion looks out of recycled and recovered materials. Enjoy a unique fashion show, participate in the People’s Choice awards, and learn more about TCE's work to fight pollution in Texas. There's also an online auction with unique items from some of Austin's favorite vendors, restaurants, and performers, going all week leading up to the event.

    Absolute Beginning Ballet Workshop for Adults

    Designed for those who have never had a ballet class, this workshop teaches ballet from the very beginning. It's never too late: adults and teens age 15 and up welcome. At the end of the session, you will have learned some of the fundamental positions, vocabulary, and basic principles of ballet. Held on-site at Ballet Austin's Butler Center.

    It's never too late to learn something new, and hip-hop dance is tons of fun for all ages.     AISD Meal Service

    Through Sept. 4, any child under the age of 19 may receive one breakfast and one lunch meal daily from Austin ISD, Monday-Thursday, with Fridays as the weekend meal distribution day. No application or identification is needed; children can simply show up at any participating site to receive a healthy meal. AISD has lots more information online about resources for those in need of food, and if you'd like to help, donate to Austin Ed Fund.

    All Angles/ATX Rally is hosting their first car show in the Downtown area, featuring classics, modified, rally, track, street euro, and exotic cars inside a gated area.     DogEmbark says puppies needs to meet 100 different people and dogs before they reach 16 weeks of age to learn the social skills they need to be happy, positive members of the community.
