This is a performative work, in conjunction with the Contemporary's current show of work by Abraham Cruzvillegas, reflecting on the migrant experience. Seemingly omnipresent Austin artist Michael Anthony García, as a member of the Latinx community living in the U.S., "migrates from one end of the gallery to the other" – while Stephanie Page, acting as a non-POC seamstress and ally, attempts to aid his journey.

An ongoing exploration of self manifests in the paintings of these two artists. Both creators are attentive to the memory of figurative forms, a landscape rooted in personal history, and a lifelong, almost diaristic dedication to similar subject matter (including four-legged creatures, shadowy silhouettes, and irregular patterns).

Bruce Lee Webb of Waxahachie, Texas, is a folk art gallerist and an antique dealer and in his travels he collects vintage cotton sacks and journal paper on which he then paints and draws. That's putting it mildly. That's without saying, "Whoa, damn, don't miss this terrific show at Randy Franklin's excellent gallery there on South Congress." Need we remind you, it was Webb's collection that was responsible for the most amazing show in the too-brief history of the gallery of Domy Books back in the day? Recommended, recommended, recommended.

For Maura Schaffer, the dining table is more than an ordinary domestic object. It's a symbol of all that is good about humanity. Functioning as tools for sustenance, conversation and unification, the tables created for this exhibit are not only sculpted and painted by the artist, but each is "imbued with a soul."

This exhibition features original and limited-edition artwork by more than a dozen official Disney Fine Artists.

It's the city's best cinematic tie-in, we're thinking, as 19 amazing artists pay graphic tribute to Godzilla, the king of the kaiju, the master of all monsters – and his fiercest foes and greatest allies. Originals and prints available among many monstrous machinations.

This new solo exhibition of two-dimensional and sculptural works by Brooklyn native Kambui Olujimi, now on view in the Blanton's Contemporary Project gallery, will revitalize your awareness of what's coordinated and universal. Abraham Cruzvillegas’ vibrant artistic practice begins with the concept of autoconstrucción, an idea rooted in transformation, exchange, and play. During the exhibition, a series of site-specific sculptures will be enlivened through music, performances, workshops, cooking, storytelling, artmaking, skateboarding, and more, in activations led by the artist’s collaborators from Mexico City and community partners from Austin. This place, ah, it's one of our favorite places in the entire city; and of course they're properly corona-closed. But check 'em out online right now – it's a rich, wonder-filled website – to whet your appetite for when things get back to … uh … are we still calling it "normal," these days?

As good as this group show is – and it's damned good, to be sure, featuring gorgeous contemporary still lifes by MaryBeth Karaus, Scott Kiche, and James Andrew Smith – don't forget that there are two stories to this Westside gallery and you don't want to miss the treasures upstairs.

Jennifer Ling Datchuk disentangles histories and traumas through objects (teacups, dinnerware) culturally associated with womanhood, using porcelain "to speak in dualities – especially of fragility, resilience, and ultimately the struggle between diversity and the flawless white body."
