    Austin Latino New Play Festival

    This eighth annual festival unites playwrights and audience members in conversation surrounding four new works of Latino theatre, with playwrights Augusto Amador, Victor Cazares, Ramon Esquivel, and Dania Ramos teaming up with local talent for staged readings.

    Listen: When a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force gets unexpectedly pregnant, her superiors reassign her, post-maternity leave, from flying F-16s to the "chair force," as a reluctant drone pilot. Street Corner Arts presents George Brant's compelling drama, starring Sarah Danko, directed by Benjamin Summers. Our reviewer, a military brat himself, had this reaction to the show.

    This nine-time Tony Award-winning Best Musical follows the misadventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries, sent halfway across the world to spread the Good Word. Note: Contains explicit language. Explicit … ? Oh, right, the whole hilarious thing was dreamed up by South Park's Matt Stone and Trey Parker with Robert Lopez.

    "Twelve troubled years after a childhood accident left her severely scarred, Violet embarks on a pilgrimage to visit a televangelist she believes will heal her." This heartwarming musical, based on The Ugliest Pilgrim by Doris Betts, is directed by Nick Mayo and features a fine cast of St. Ed's students with guest actors David Long, Jarret Mallon, Christina Stroup, and Gregory Truvillion. Bonus: musical direction by Peter Stopschinski.
