Ma & Pa Gothic: Texas Gothic

This here's a mixture of homespun wisdom, homespun comedy, and homespun goodness in which Ma & Pa Gothic (that's the Institution's Janet Maykus and Tom Booker) dish out a heapin’ helpin’ of good ol' Texas wisdom. Imagine, maybe, Prairie Home Companion crossed with The Addams Family and you're one-fifth of the way there (and that fifth is likely a bottle of moonshine). This week's special guest: Some local arts-pimping journo named Brenner.
    Fri., Nov. 8, 8pm. $10.

    Caleb Synan

Synan's background as a preacher’s kid from a small southern town gives him the ability to relate to any and every crowd, he insists – even though he’s a big old millennial who lives in L.A., sippin' those gold-leaf-infused margaritas, ridin' the fancy mopeds, poppin' open three or maybe four diamond-studded cans of Pringles every goddamn night. This weekend, he's out for your funny bone, ATX. And some guy named, uh, Rick wants us to mention that Elizabeth Spears opens the show, too. Okay? You happy now, Rick? Stop calling us.
    Nov. 8-9. Fri., 9pm; Sat., 9 & 11pm. $10.
