If you care at all about the Texas volleyball program – I’ll wait for those who don’t care to stop reading – let me help you spend your next $10 wisely. This weekend, spend $9.99 to watch online the Nike Big Four Volleyball Classic. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did.

On Friday and Saturday, the No. 5 Longhorns travel to Gainesville, Fla., to play in the Nike Big Four Volleyball Classic against No. 2 Stanford, and the winner of the matchup between No. 1 Penn State and No. 4 Florida.

Yes, four of the Top 5 teams in the nation are going to be playing in a tournament.

Yes, none of the games are going to be televised regionally, let alone nationally.

A football game between Texas and West Texas Tech A&M International could at least be shown for free in the state of Texas, but sadly volleyball doesn’t get the same kind of love (and understandably so seeing as how UT football brings in slightly more money, awareness, and yada yada, but that conversation is for another day).

Also, I guarantee you’d spend more than $50 to watch the football team take on West Texas Tech A&M International, right? So why not a fifth of the price to see Texas possibly take on the two top teams in the nation, which would include Stanford (who beat Texas in the semifinals two years ago) and Penn State (who rallied to win three straight sets to defeat Texas in the National Championship last year). Isn’t a revenge game the best kind of game to watch? We could possibly get to watch two huge ones in a two-day span.

How is that not worth five bucks a game?

Go to GatorVision and cough up the $10 to watch volleyball. If anything, you could have volleyball going on the computer with college football on your TV. The best of both worlds!
