Lonestar Rollergirls say 'Hi 2010, bye Convention Center'

Lonestar Rollergirls: Last night at the Austin Convention Center

Tonight is the opening night of the 2010 season for the Lonestar Rollergirls. If you're a longtime fan, it's also the last bout night when you'll wonder how you'll find parking at the Austin Convention Center.

As of Feb. 28, the banked-track Roller Derby league will be making a move to the Palmer Events Center. So the Jan. 30 match-up between the Rhinestone Cowgirls and the Putas Del Fuego not only kicks off the regular season, but marks the end of an era as the Lonestar skaters say farewell to their traditional home.

First whistle is at 7pm (doors at 6pm) at the Austin Convention Center, 500 E. Cesar Chavez. Tickets are $15 at the door or $13 online at www.frontgatetickets.com or in person at Whip-In, Headhunter's Tiki Bar, Shag Salon, Pronto Mart/Stop Spot, or the Texas Chili Parlor. If you want to save some money and guarantee a seat for the first five bouts of the year, passes for the opening half of the season are available now.
