Longhorn teams to play for two national championships in less than a month

The Texas Longhorns will play for two national titles in less than a month: In addition to the football team's BCS championship game against Alabama on Jan. 7, the volleyball team will play for the NCAA championship today (Saturday) in Tampa.
The game will be telecast on ESPN2, 7pm CST. They will play the dynastic Penn State, which is currently on a 101-game winning streak going back to 2007.
The Longhorns looked impressive against a strong Minnesota team, sweeping the Golden Gophers in three games: 25-19, 25-20, 25-15. Unlike last year, when the Horns got up two games on Stanford and then let it slip away, this time they finished with power. In the third game it briefly looked dicey, as Minnesota went up 12-8, but then Texas brought the hammer down with a 17-3 closing run.
