Texans Stun Fans, Win Game

The Houston Texans manage to miss shooting themselves in the foot by an inch, hope to tame the Lions today

Texans Stun Fans, Win Game

KEYE is screwing Texans fans again today by showing the Colts/Packers matchup instead of the Texans/Lions. I mean, come on, they are called the Texans. Air their damn games. 1530AM will be broadcasting the game starting at 3pm. Thanks ESPN Austin. The Texans didn't even have a local radio broadcast last year. I guess they are moving up step by step locally.

After devastating fans the previous week by losing to the Colts while being up by 17 with less than five minutes remaining, the Texans managed to defeat Miami last Sunday despite turning the ball over four times. Now that the Texans have proven themselves to be the best team in the NFL with a 1-4 record, they need to take advantage of the hapless Lions and Bengals coming to town in the next two weeks and put that record at a slightly more respectable 3-4.

The winless Lions come whimpering into town a complete mess. They made a good move this week moving Roy Williams to the Cowboys for multiple picks in the upcoming draft but that won't help them on Sunday. The Texans are currently favored by 9.5 and should easily cover the spread. Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson put up amazing numbers versus the Dolphins last week and Steve Slaton is looking like the running back they have been searching for since Dominick Davis (now Williams) was carrying the rock.

Mario Williams has turned out to be the real deal having already amassed six sacks on the year and two forced fumbles. There's no question that SuperMario has turned out to the best pick in the 2006 draft. VY is currently injured/riding the bench and Steve Slaton could turn out to be almost as valuable a back as Reggie Bush after he gets past the rookie learning curve. Here's hoping the Texans can turn this season around and not continue to kick their fans in the gut like they did in week five versus Indianapolis.

In other good news for H-town, cornerback Dunta Robinson will return this week after sitting out almost a year due to a knee injury. He's by far the best CB Houston has ever fielded and should help the always-struggling Texans pick up a few more wins this year.
