Playoffs Begin Tonight for the Ice Bats
By Mark Fagan, 5:04PM, Mon. Mar. 24, 2008
The Central Hockey League’s Ray Miron President’s Cup Playoffs drop the puck tonight and the No. 5 seed Austin Ice Bats will take on the No. 4 seed Odessa Jackalopes (in Odessa) starting at 7:05pm. The game will be carried live on 1530 AM. Game two is Wednesday, 7:35pm at the Chaparral Ice Arena here in Austin with the third game (if necessary) taking place Thursday back in Odessa at 7:05pm (also on 1530 AM).
This playoff appearance is nothing less than a miracle after the Bats ended '07 with a 7-22-1 record. Austin came to life in '08 with a 22-11-1 record which carried them to their first playoff appearance since 2003. Hopefully the Bats got hot at the right time and can continue toward their grand goal of hoisting the President's Cup.
Tickets for game two on Wednesday are available by calling 512/927-7825 or visiting www.icebats.com. Go Bats!
