Chris Mihm, Remember Him?

By Andy Denham, January 5, 2008, 1:20pm, The Score

Quick little UT flashback: You surely remember the great white hype, one Mr. Chris Mihm. Known more for swatting the ball out of the Erwin Center (psst … he leads UT in every blocked-shot category there is: game, season, career, average, Big 12. What have you done lately?), but don’t forget he is 13th all time on the Longhorn scorers list with 1,404 total points. Well if you love Longhorn hard-court action, then check out your alum here with the Lakers:

December 23, and Christmas comes early for the Knicks’ Eddie Curry, only we doubt he got what he wanted. Love him or hate him, Kobe can earn a dime (wow, that one works on two different levels). Italy’s Mister Basketball* delivers a jaw-dropping no-look wrap-around dish to none other than your 2000 consensus first team All-America winner – only the second in UT history, the first being Jack Gray in 1935 for those of you playing at home.

We love rooting on former Horns, it’s just too damn bad Mihm plays for L.A. which we hate for two reasons: 1) L.A.’s city library consists of only three Commodore 64 computers minus Dig Dug; and 2) because it smells like Detroit if Detroit forgot to wipe its ass. But that aside and back to Mihm, whose Lakers went on to beat the woeful Knicks, sexually-harassed staff and all, 95-90.

With both Luke “My Dad’s Bill” Walton and Kwame “Remember Me?” Brown sidelined with injuries, Mihm has found more time off the bench managing 4.1 points and 3.7 boards per game** for the Los Angeles Kobes. Until next time, hook ‘em NBA style.
