Lady Longhorns, Plus Euro Results & Schedules

The UT Lady Longhorns rose to No. 3 in the national rankings, but suffered their first loss of the season Sunday night, 2-0 at Arizona, after beating Arizona State Friday. The Horns (now No. 7) now have six straight home games, starting with UT-San Antonio, Friday, Sept. 14, 7pm, then unbeaten LSU on Tuesday, Sept. 18, also 7pm.

Euro2008 qualifiers were Saturday and Wednesday. Previously struggling England had two big 3-0 wins over Israel and Russia, to leapfrog both of those teams into qualifying position; Scotland stunned France in Paris (!) to take the lead in their group over Italy and France, and lots more.

Next week the focus is back to the club game, as the European Champions League group stage opens Tuesday-Wednesday, Sept. 18-19.
ESPN2 has Porto-Liverpool at 1:30pm Tuesday, and Sporting Lisbon-Manchester United at 1:30pm Wednesday.
