Bats Pound Odessa 5-2 on the Road Friday Night

Three important facts about the Ice Bats 5-2 victory over the Jackalopes in Odessa tonight: 1) they converted two of their four power-play attempts; 2) defenseman Chris Ovington (recently sent down from the AHL's Houston Aeros) scored two goals in the first three minutes of Friday's second period; and 3) new goalie Tony Quesada (also sent down by the Aeros) got his first win in five appearances for Austin. Quesada's had little goal support from the Bats in his previous appearances and certainly hopes those dark days are behind him. We here at the Score are also hoping there was no trouble from Odessa's mascot, Slap Jack, and all parties left the game unscathed. Or at least as unscathed as one normally is after playing hockey for three hours. The Bats have one more on the road Saturday vs. the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and then return home to the Bat Cave Sunday for a 4pm tilt, also vs. the Mudbugs.
