Harry Ransom Center Celebrates Movie Storyboards With Poster Giveaway
Grab some art this weekend at the "Drawing the Motion Picture" exhibit

What's better than a free gallery? How's about free art from a free gallery? Even better, free art from a free gallery that would look perfect on the walls of art lovers and cinephiles equally - courtesy of the Harry Ransom Center and its current exhibition, "Drawing the Motion Picture: Production Art and Storyboards."
This weekend (while supplies last), the HRC will be giving away free prints from this exhibition celebrating the work of the artists who help create movies before the first nail goes into a set, or the first frame is shot: the concept artists, designers, story board artists, and design consultants whose work has been vital in shaping the visual flair of so many legendary movies
The print is taken from surrealist and set designer Hein Heckroth's magnificent work for The Red Shoes, Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's monumental achievement in Technicolor cinema. It's just one of hundreds of pieces from the HRC collections, with original concept art and storyboards from films as diverse and significant in film history as David Lean's Lawrence of Arabia, Alfred Hitchcock's Rebecca, the Star Wars films, and even major Texas movies including Dazed & Confused and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
The Ransom Center exhibition galleries are open this weekend, noon to 5pm, with guided tours of "Drawing the Motion Picture" today (Saturday) at 1 and 2pm, and Sunday at 1pm. Just ask at the information desk for your complimentary print.
