Wanna Watch Machete With Us?

Thursday livetweet of Robert Rodriguez's Mexploitation classic

So we've gone cutting with The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and revved up the engine with Death Proof. Now it's time to swing a Machete for this week's Austin Chronicle live-tweet.

Here's the deal. Every day during the coronavirus lockdown, we've been recommending an Austin-made film to stream as part of our Now Streaming in Austin series. We've gone from beloved comedies like Miss Congeniality, to overlooked treasures such as Fireflies in the Garden, and incredible animations including It's Such a Beautiful Day and Castlevania.

But we're going a little deeper once a week with an tweet-along for one title, and this week we're celebrating Robert Rodriguez's first spin-off from Grindhouse (his wild collaboration with Quentin Tarantino) with a virtual watch party for Machete. Yup, nothing says a good time like Danny Trejo wreaking a path of bloody revenge in his quest for justice!

So at 8pm CST on Thursday, April 9, we'll be livetweeting along with the mad ride that took exploitation cinema back to its perfect, crazy roots. Join us on Twitter (Screens Editor Richard Whittaker will be tweeting from his account @YorkshireTX) and join in, using the hashtag #NowStreamingInAustin.

See you Thursday at 8pm!
