Kickstart Your Weekend: Send Danni Danger to the Geekies

Danni Danger, one of Austin's Weird Girls, is trying to get to Los Angeles. Here's you chance to help her make the trip, and get back again.
Danger is part of the Austin-based Weird Girls, a website/collective dedicated to letting people know that women are a real and vital part of geek, comic, cosplay, and gaming cultures. (See our cover story, "Girls Gone Geek," May 23.)
Seems like the Chronicle isn't the only place savvy to Danger's passion and genius for comics' culture. She's been nominated in the 2014 Geekie Awards (sort of the Independent Spirit award for nerd culture on the web) as one of the scene's personalities of 2014.
She's going up against Fan Voice editor Jenna Busch, Geekgasm host/creator Jenny Lorenzo, Kim Horcher of The Young Turks' daily briefing Nerd Alert, and the comedy duo behind SMOSH, Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox. But she's still got to actually get to Los Angeles for the actual awards show on August 17.
That's why she's putting a travel fund together. You can contribute through Danger's GoFundMe.com page, and she's already established her incentives, everything from a shout-out on the Weird Girls site, to a haiku about your favorite comic book character, to even a special Dangeresque video review of your favorite comic of graphic novel.
And, if that's not enough, she's already announced the most awesome/embarrassing stretch goals to date. If she hits her $1,000 target, she'll perform, via the Weird Girls Youtube Channel, the decade-defining Ninja Rap by Vanilla Ice, from the cinematic landmark, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze.
$1,500? She'll do the dance.
