No No: A Dockumentary has been on our radar for years.
The highly anticipated documentary about Dock Ellis, the Pittsburgh Pirate who pitched a no-hitter while on LSD, has been in production since 2010 – the 40th anniversary of that unbelievable game. As Mark Fagan put it in his 2012 writeup about the film:
"It's an (in)famous milestone in baseball lore, but even nonsports fans are familiar with the story from James Blagden's funny, trippy animated short "Dock Ellis and the LSD No-No," which has more than 2 million hits on YouTube."
But as editor Sam Douglas put it: "He's an exceptional person who happened to be a baseball player."
Our friends from Arts + Labor got an exclusive peek at the film's premiere last night at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
Check out their interviews with the filmmakers here.
