No Monkeying Around for Alamo Apes
Classic Mondo print up for grabs at Planet of the Apes
By Richard Whittaker, 8:00PM, Thu. Jul. 25, 2013
So by now everyone know the Alamo Lakeline has damn dirty paw prints all over its Planet of the Apes-themed lobby. Friday night, they'll be beating their chests with the original Planet of the Apes, plus a special chance to win a classic Mondo print.
To celebrate the 45th anniversary of the last thing Charlton Heston did that didn't make us cringe, the Drafthouse is screening a 35mm print of the 1968 post-apocalyptic classic. Not only that, but one lucky attendee will win a copy of Mondo regular Jason Edmiston's poster for last year's Go Ape five movie marathon.
Of course, this being a Drafthouse special screening, no-one's expecting you to don your best monkey suit. However, ape-themed attire is recommended, from gorilla suits to a Gorilla Biscuits t-shirt.
The screening kicks off at 7.20pm on July 26 at Alamo Lakeline. Check our listings for details.
