Links to the 8-Bit Artisan

So, you just read the probing and insightful prose-gasm that is my feature story on local artist/collector/programmer Party Time! Hexcellent! Reading it in the print issue, you might have noticed that you couldn't click on the words to make web pages pop up. Sorry about that. To make it up to you, here's a blog full of feature-related clickables.

Firstly we have Rachel Weil's homepage and one-stop site for pop-culture from the late 80s and early 90s. You really should check out her tumblr regularly, or just make it easy on yourself and follow her on Twitter @partytimeHXLNT and let the awesomeness come to you.

The Feminine Computer Museum, or Femicom, culls much of early console gaming's mixed bag of "girl games." Here's one of my faves from the collection and here's some more info about that Japanese console marketed to girls that came with a built in sticker printer. You can follow Femicom @FemicomMuseum.

For those too lazy to explore her website (something you would not regret, trust me) here's just a smattering of animated gifs from PT!H!:
This opening screen for Track+Feel II is where we got the imagery for our cover.
And this is a crazy, glitching flag.

And anyone unfamiliar with the chiptune music scene can check out this performance from Anamanaguchi with Hexcellent imagery in the background. I wasn't kidding when I said the shows are high energy. Who else gets crowd surfers when playing a new song?

Oh, and she has a headbanging cat.
