Hilah Cooking: Success Tastes So Good

They grow up so fast.

When last we spoke with Hilah Johnson and Chris Sharpe of Hilah Cooking (see "Seasoning's Greetings," Screens, Sept. 23), they were carrying along in the kitchen with their streamlined two-camera setup, posting weekly updates, and getting ready to celebrate the show's third season and second anniversary. This week, though, Johnson wrote to report that the show had been selected as part of YouTube's Next Chef.

The program injects funding and expertise into the online presence of 16 chefs in an attempt "to supercharge the careers of the world’s next big stars who are starting their careers on YouTube today." You can read more about the other participants over on YouTube's page about the competition, or go get a healthy serving of enthusiasm from Hilah herself on her channel. There's even a writeup on a Wall Street Journal blog. Translation: She's the real deal.

Look for more from Hilah Cooking every Tuesday, and stay tuned to see how the 12-week Next Chef program changes things in her kitchen and on her blog. We have a feeling our hometown girl is going to be a global hit.
