Archer, Beck Hit Bullseye, Score Emmy Nomination
Austin animators nominated for local doc 'The Eyes of Me'

When we first met Austin animators and visual artists Jason Archer and Paul Beck, they were working on Richard Linklater's Waking Life and making short, sharp, subversive animations on the side. Now, along with three other locals, they've been nominated for an Emmy for their work on the documentary The Eyes of Me.
And it's not just Archer and Beck (Animators) who got the prestigious nod: TexFX's Gary Walker (Visual Effects), Keith Maitland (Art Director), and Ryan Hennesee (Animator) were all nominated under the category of Outstanding Graphic Design & Art Direction.
Maitland, who also directed the 2008 Texas Filmmakers Production Funded film for his own Illegal Films production company, premiered the feature documentary at South By Southwest 2009. Using a combination of live action and the rotoscope-y animation style familiar to fans of Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly, The Eyes of Me chronicles the lies of four blind teenagers living Austin and attending the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
