This Week's Waste of Time

Last week's Waste of Time blog was all about simple fun and a perfect soundtrack to it. This week, it's more simplicity but it's all about the touches of voice work that keep player's coming back for more. It's time to play Cuboy Hot Pants.

The story is as old as time. A man and his talking goat climb a mountain only to have it revealed to be a volcano. One charred goat later, the player is tasked with hopping down the mountain without burning alive. The controls are as simple as choosing one of three platforms to jump to, but as the speed increases and the molten bits become more prevalent the relationship between eye and hand starts to quicken. High scores pretty much require getting in some sort of "zone," which usually equates to bypassing your brain.

Use that unused brain power to enjoy the brief bursts of British-tinged commentary from the square-bodied protagonist. Aside from the desire to best my high score (which stands at an unbeatable 3961) it was the need to hear every word from Cuboy's mouth that made me hit replay more than a few times.

I worry that it might only be funny because I'm not British. I hope not.
