Clear Eyes, Full Hearts...

By Kimberley Jones, July 9, 2010, 4:49pm, Picture in Picture

Well, we’re not going to say “can’t lose” because we don’t want to jinx this thing, but kudos to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for finally – finally! – showing Friday Night Lights some love.

Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton (who graced our cover not too long ago, see right) both received Emmy acting nominations for their roles as FNL’s anchor couple Coach Eric and Tami Taylor. Writer Rolin Jones earned a nod for his episode, “The Son,” and Austin casting agent Beth Sepko was one of three casting agents (along with Lois Lowy and John Brace) to be recognized for Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series.

Still: Not to bite the hand that feeds, but no Best Drama nod? And what gives with ignoring sob-magnet Zach Gilford, whose season four arc as grieving son Matt Saracen – most especially in nominated episode “The Son” – absolutely gutted us? Bad, Emmy.

For a complete list of the Emmy nominations, go here. And you can read Belinda Acosta’s April piece on Friday Night Lights here.

The 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards airs August 29.
