To Hell With Inner Beauty
Wanna know what Ellen is doing in the new year? Rolling out a partnership between Olay and CoverGirl by the name of Simply Ageless Foundation. When asked about the line Ellen stated, "Inner beauty is important, but not nearly as important as outer beauty. That’s why I use CoverGirl Simply Ageless makeup with Olay Regenerist serum." Hilarious! But, seriously, what is in the water over at CoverGirl? First Queen Latifah launched her Queen Collection, and now Ellen. I personally love my ladies at least a little gender freaky, but who knew Covergirl did too?

Daily Affirmation: Hooking Up With Tila Tequila
So Cindy Widner is a genius, or at least she recognizes my love for pure and unadulterated cultural detritus. How did she know I loved the hit MTV bisexual reality dating show, A Shot of Love with Tila Tequila? How did she know that I cried myself to sleep with joy and repulsion after every episode? How did she know I'd want my very own copy of Tila Tequila's new book (ghost-written by journalist Sarah Tomlinson), Hooking Up With Tila Tequila? Some things are just mysteries, I suppose. Cindy left a copy of the book, and I use that word loosely, for me at the Chronicle office. The following is a dramatization of the moment of retrieval…

Can We Throw One Back?
Aubrey O'Day, best known as the skanky former Danity Kane member that got a bit too much personal press for Diddy's taste, just came out. Well, that's what Fox News would have us to believe. Maybe it is a publicity stunt? I wouldn't put it past her. Generally, I am not a hater, but something about this girl just gets up under my skin like a thousand cockroaches in sandpaper jackets. I also find it fishy that Fox News is the only major news outlet who finds this newsworthy. Really, with the Prop 8 travesty and me going home for the holidays soon, this just seems like bad timing. The last thing we (or I for that matter) need is a celebrity spokesperson and holiday conversation-starter, the likes of Aubrey O'Day.

I'm Officially a Stalker
My best friend is DJ Jaunty, but I haven't seen him in months, partly because up until Tuesday he was holed up with Christeene, aka Paul Soileau aka the brains under that blonde wig of Rebecca Havemeyer. So, on Tuesday, two of the most gorgeous gay boys in Austin premiered a music video featuring more ass than a donkey farm, and a debut of Paul's new character (Christeene) and her new song, "Fix my Dick." It premiered at this week's Hey Homo and the after-party at Rain. That was Tuesday.

Then, Thursday, I braved the cold for the warm final words of Rebecca Havemeyer to the crowds at the last CampCamp ever. He got a little verklempt. I shared the sentiment. I can't believe it's over.

Now, it's a week later, and I wanna see more Paul. Obviously. So, I am surprising my lady love with date night fabulousness, and a play featuring Paul, "I've never been so happy," at the Off Center. We'll hold hands and stare right at Paul. How romantic. The bonus for me is that this play is curated and directed by Thomas Graves, a Louisville, Kentucky-native and a boy I watched in plays back when he was 11. He is a major talent (and also a hairy ass in "Fix My Dick").

With plans to go see Paul rip it to shreds as Rebecca Havemeyer with Stanley Roy in their annual Xmas special at Lambert's, Eternal Christmas," it's no wonder I feel like an addict for his junk. Paul is doing something in Austin right now. I just wanna watch it happen.

In fact, I'm watching him sleep. Right now.

Tweens v. Twinks
Robert Pattinson, who is the current vampiric wet-dream-of-choice for every teenage girl and gay boy, is set to play a young Salvador Dali in love with Frederico Garcia Lorca in an upcoming movie titled Little Ashes. The screenplay for the film won the Euroscript Award eight years ago(!), and is finally being realized on the silver screen. This is my question: What will the 'tweens think?

Who doesn't want to be famous? I've always wanted to be famous, so I feel very little pity for "oh woe is me" celebrities living the glam, glitzy life that I know I could do a much better job living. Well… I used to feel little pity for them,

The Youth Shall Set You Free
Your friendly neighborhood Gay Place has gone national, securing a slot on today's front page of MTV-Logo's 365gay.com. We are chuffed beyond all recognition to have landed an exclusive interview with the heretofore mysterious founder of Join the Impact, the grassroots movement that is poised to infuse and enthuse the queer rights debate. Consider it reparative therapy after the sickening passing of Props… Oh, we all know which ones they were, and where they were passed, and how much people hate us, yet feel they can infiltrate our lives with their petty religious bigotry. So, for the sake of mental health, this week, I went viral. I joined up with Join the Impact, the web-based activism site for organizing the protests that these defeats have spawned. With every click, I began to feel energized at the prospect of witnessing a national movement in its infancy. The question on everyone's lips this week was: Who the heck is behind this thing and how did they get the word out so fast? So we began emailing and calling every contact we could find on the networking site. Then we found her. Or more precisely, she found us. We hope you enjoy reading about Join the Impact founder Amy Balliett as much as we enjoyed interviewing her. We've included an excerpt after the jump.

A Dyke To Watch Out For
This week, Alison Bechdel is in town. The Dykes to Watch Out For author will appear at UT on Thu., Nov. 6 and will be signing her new book at BookPeople, The Essential Dykes to Watch Out For, Fri., Nov. 7, 5pm. Those who have been readers of the strip, now in circulation for over 25 years, know what a talent Bechdel is. Even if you haven't read DTWOF, Bechdel's Fun Home, a graphic novel which concerns her process of coming out, but also the death of her father (and subsequent discovery that her father may have been gay also). It is a carefully considered and beautifully rendered narrative, which mixes memoir and theory. And I ain't the only one who thinks so! Also: Bechdel has a blog.
