AJ Durand Invites Austinites to #getyourshittogether

A workshop with NOLA queen, yogi, and "life changing witch" can help

Whether you’re hashtagging #NewYearNewYou or #NewYearSameYou, chances are you could probably use a #getyourshittogether workshop. Seriously, I just read a long essay on millennial burnout and feel confident when I say – we could all use some help with staying on task and feeling balanced in 2019.

This sentiment is exactly why fitness trainer extraordinaire Erica Nix is so excited to be hosting AJ Durand (aka Precious Ephemera) Sunday at Transform Fitness.

Durand, a New Orleans-based wellness and esoterica specialist and yoga teacher with over 900 hours of study under their leggings, founded the Wheel of the Year Workshop – a daylong class combining yoga, astrology, practical magic, and journaling – to help folks feel more organized for the new year. Nix says she was “stoked” when Durand reached out to her about holding an Austin workshop after attending a Transform class while visiting for a major burlesque competition. Durand, who Nix easily sums up as a “life changing witch,” of course, also goes by Precious Ephemera – a well-loved NOLA queen and burlesque performer.

For several hours of Sunday Funday, this nonbinary yogi-witch-of-trades will combine their many talents to help Austinites manage their goals, get organized, stay on task, and feel more connected spiritually. Durand promises to help attendees design a map for living “that helps you stay on the beam and reach for balance in your mind, body, spirit, work, life, kids, savings account, doctor’s appointments, sleeping, waking, having fun, tackling hard stuff, and sweating the small stuff.” That’s a wild list and, honestly, we can’t resist it. As Nix says, “I know I could really use some organization this year and I love the idea of using the stars to do that… this southern, witchy wannabee, girl has never had this opportunity.”

If you feel the same, tickets are still available and prices have been discounted. So don’t sleep on this opportunity to #getyourshittogether for the new year.

Wheel of the Year Workshop, Sunday, Jan. 13, 11:30am-4:30pm at Transform Fitness, 1909 Wheless. $42. Tickets are available online and attendees are asked to bring a dotted, grid, or blank journal suitable for bullet journaling, a pencil, and a copy of your Astro-Natal Chart available for free download online.
