Rain on 4th: Now With More Gay

By Blake McCoy, January 9, 2015, 12:00pm, Qmmunity

As of this week Rain on 4th took its final step out of one type of closet, as Dave Pantano steps down as the owner of the revered club.

General Manager Scott Percifull tells the Gay Place that after 10 years of developing the Rain that Austinites have come to know and love, Pantano has sold his share of the nightclub to his associate investors.

Percifull, who started out as a bartender at Rain a decade ago, says, “I was the last straw,” signifying his recently increased share of the club. Although Pantano will be missed by his partners, the Rain troop seems excited and apt to make some changes. Moreover, for the first time in the history of Rain, the ownership is predominantly made up of self-identifying gay members. In celebration of this ultra-gay anomaly (even in Califoria's WeHo, a gay bar owned by gay people is news), the GM claims they intend to be more competitive than ever before.

When asked about what Fourth Street patrons can anticipate in the new year, Percifull announced that the club will begin hosting special guest DJ events as well as weekly drag shows. For the sake of Rain’s loyal patrons, Percifull reaffirms that “although things are changing, the doors remain open to all.”
