Some stuff happened around the world that isn't nearly as important as your AggreGAYtor going Being John Malkovich on Miley Cyrus.
The Good
-
LGBTQ History Month is happening despite protests, but that’s not important right now.
The Bad
-
Russia gets criticism, a government shutdown slogs on, and El Paso and Fort Worth need to get gayer, but that’s not important right now.
The Fugly
-
Pasta giant Barilla has notpologized repeatedly, and Tom Corbett says gays are literally all brothers and sisters, but that's not important right now.
What's Really Really Important Right Now
-
Oh. Em. Gee. So, like, Miley Cyrus cited “Nothing Compares To U” as inspiration for her “Wrecking Ball” video; Sinead O’Connor responded with an open letter which has now prompted a nasty public tussle including some abusive tweets from an angry Miley (which has caused some Miley defenders to reconsider their position), a second open letter threatening lawsuits, and a third calling out the media’s twisted relationship with Britney Spears. Amanda Palmer responds in an open letter to the original issue (which Shirley Manson thinks is spot-on), and follows up with a must-experience list of female badassery. Tori Amos chimes in, comparing sexualization without artistic merit to incontinence, and Raina Rose thinks we should all be excellent to each other. But now Miley is, like, so over it, and besides, Sinead blames Simon Cowell anyway.
YVW.
