The AggreGAYtor: October 19

Your daily dose of LGBTQIA news

Oh Alana!
Oh Alana! (by GLAAD.org)

Anne Rice supports same-sex parenting, Kristina Bui has some explaining to do, and Honey Boo Boo continues to delight. Today’s AggreGAYtor is doing the purp walk.

• Gay Tory Conor Burns, who stores the bunting from past campaigns in his ear canal, claims that he hasn’t heard any “clamor” for marriage equality in the gay community.

• Fried blood sausage Nick Griffin publishes address of gay couple involved in discrimination case and encourages supporters to protest.

Adrian Smith, the result of making copies of copies of Eddie Izzard, is upset that he was demoted due to mild anti gay-marriage Facebook message.

• Back in the colonies, marriage equality oppugnants are fretting about their lack of funding.

• Continuing on our tour through the amber waves of grain, Alabama Dem congressional candidate Daniel Boman implies his opponent is in the closet.

• Ohio GOP senatorial candidate Josh Mandel, former Russ Meyer starlet, wants to reinstate Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.

• And in Illinois, steeped Tea Party fave John Cabello nibbles on that old bestiality chestnut. God bless America!

Pamela Anderson is spurned by New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn. Somewhere in a loft decorated with gothic crosses, Pam cries alone with her Baywatch red swimsuit in her hands, bemoaning the loss of her youth.

• Catholic fraternal organization the Knights of Columbus are funneling millions in donations to anti-gay causes.

• Former chair of Catholic Charities notices that NOM’s pants are on fire.

Anne Rice, the ghost writer of the Earnest Goes to Camp series, likes to think of Louis and Lestat as same-sex parents.

• Today in bad ideas: Minnesota’s Anoka-Hennepin School District, who received national attention for rash of student suicides and dismal gay “neutrality” policy, appoints homophobic activist Bryan Lindquist to new anti-bullying task force. That’s like appointing Cruella de Vil to head PETA.

• Kristina Bui, the editor of University of Arizona’s student newspaper offers half-assed apology for publishing viciously homophobic cartoon.

• Although the AggreGAYtor is cynical about our nation’s obsession with slacktavism; after the breaded hate parades of the Chick-fil-A “Appreciation” day, it is still nice to see purple everywhere.

• Major national sports leagues will be taking part in today’s Spirit Day purple reign, including the NHL, NBA, MLB, WNBA, MLS, and MLB. OMG.

• Oh! And Honey Boo Boo will be wearing purple too, which frankly sells me on the whole concept. You win, GLAAD, OK?

Polymer preservation enthusiast Michael Jeffries, the CEO of Aryan clothier Abercrombie and Fitch, makes some interesting demands of his flight crew.

• Recovering cockaholic Ted Haggard believes in separation of church and state. Whowouddathunk?

MassResistance, a group made up of former cast members of Romper Room who had their binkies taken away too early, throw a temper tantrum over GOP support of gay candidate. Maybe if we jingle some keys in their face, this will all be over.

• Boston's Mayor Menino is uncomfortable about all the vibrators in City Hall Plaza.

Mark Regnerus and his technicolor dream survey is refuted by yet another study.

• Speaking of surveys, new Gallup poll shows 3.4% of us identify LGBT.

• The Palm Beach County School District, who boasts our gayjordomo Kate X among its illustrious alumna, becomes the third school district in the nation to recognize LGBT History Month.

• Baylor-owned gym involved in discrimination case for refusing to sell gay couple family membership.

• Lufkin lesbian lobbies for Lifetime role.
