Prop 8 Upheld

Aw, hell...

Judge not, lest ye be... Wait! Wrong Testament... (by Raphael)

Yup. It's true.

6-1! Prop 8 is being upheld in California. So sez the California Supreme Court. But, those who married in that window of gay marriage opportunity will be recognized as married. Say whaaaa…?

Hard not to feel defeated at these moments, but the fact that the 18,000 couples who were married in CA get to legally stay married is both comforting… and troubling.

This is where the real break-down of Prop. 8 is gonna happen, I think. You can't open the floodgates and nicely ask the waters to stop. Or as Chronicle news editor Michael King says, "It's Solomon cutting the baby in half!"

Cali, for shame! Texas, for shame-er! Iowa, gold star.
