National Novel Writing Month November 1-30

Last year, I got introduced to NaNoWriMo

http://www.nanowrimo.org/

by one of my blogger friends who's a frustrated insurance salesman by day (I kid you not) and a passionate writer by night, weekend, whatever time he has left. And apparently, there are a lot of writers out there who, as writers goes, need the support of fellow raconteurs to keep writing inspite of the lack of big fat checks and public recognition.

So during the month of November, writers literally all over the world join up on the NaNoWriMo site and write daily to finish up a novel by the end of the month. For some that means having the outline and plots etc done before the month starts. For others that means just spontaneously writing however many words a day. For a lot of people, that also means getting together with their local group (through NaNoWriMo) at some deli or coffee place to either schmooze (procrastination is a part of a writer's life don't you know)or exchange story ideas, or to just plain get together drink coffee and type on the laptops in the company of kindred spirits.

I wanted to join again this year, but naturally, not having access to my computer for a great part of the month, I did not think I could. Then I hit myself on the head, scolding me for that technological blip in my brain, as if I don't know how to write long hand!! The brain apparently functions differently and some say more creatively when writing by long hand. So that's just what I have to do.

For those of you who are curious, go check it out: http://www.nanowrimo.org.

I wanted to find some fictional books with running as a topic, but could not find any. Feel free to write them in a comment.

I did find some films relating to running: Chariots of Fire (did not even have to look it up) The character who inspired that story apparently is preparing for the 2012 olympics (http://news.scotsman.com/latest.cfm?id=1720162007)

Plus a great (!!) resource for all kinds of films with running as a topic is "Running Movies": http://www.runningmovies.com/
