According to a poll sponsored by the would-be Sarah Eckhardt campaign for County Judge, Eckhardt is recognized by a majority of Travis County voters – not so County Dem chair, Andy Brown.
According to a poll released Monday afternoon by the Eckhardt campaign, 51% of Travis County voters recognize the Precinct 2 County Commissioner's name – only 32% recognize that of Brown. Eckhardt consultant Ed Espinoza said that "Sarah Eckhardt is known by a majority of countywide Democratic primary voters, which is good news for someone who has never appeared on a countywide ballot.”
The poll was performed Feb. 10 – before Sen. Gonzalo Barrientos, another potential candidate, said he would not run and encouraged Eckhardt to do so. The commissioner said she would make a decision sometime later this year. The phone poll surveyed 643 Democratic voters likely to vote in the 2014 Democratic primary.
