Primary Run-Off Results: Early Voting Day Three

, July 26, 2012, 7:56am, Newsdesk

Turnout in Travis County for the July 31 primary run-off has plateaued, with near-identical results for the last two days. So far, only 1.97% of the voting population has made it to the polling booths.

The pattern remains the same: With more energy and more contentious races on the GOP slate, Republicans are beating the Democrats by a three-to-one ratio.

In a sign of how much the Sen. Jeff Wentworth/Donna Campbell fight is energizing the GOP, two of the three highest turn-out boxes are in South-West Travis (Randalls Flagship in Westlake Hills, and its sister store at Mopac and William Cannon.) However, the single biggest vote total is at the Randalls at Research and Braker – again mostly driven by GOP voters.

There's one interesting takeaway from all this: Democrats are taking much greater advantage of the handy-dandy mobile voting sites. In the first three days, 318 of the 746 residents using this service have cast their ballot in the Democratic primary.

You have until close of business on Friday, July 27 for early voting, then the actual election is July 31. You can find voting locations and info here, and our endorsements here.
