Bastrop ISD. and Smithville ISD announced that area schools will resume classes on Monday, September 12th. Keep an eye on the active fires map here. Please click through for more information.
Bus routes will be altered to include area shelters, hotels, as well as other drop off and pick-up locations. The massive fire that has virtually shut down everyday life and destroyed 1386 homes in Bastrop County is reported to be 30% contained at this time.
Meanwhile the Texas Forest Service reported earlier today that the DC-10 filled with fire retardant will not fly over the area, causing some controversy in the community.
