Lucky Number 3,000
Austin Humane Society has record-breaking year

The Austin Humane Society is capping off the year with a record number of adoptions and feral cat operations.
Last weekend, during their Home for the Holidays adoption event, the shelter saw its 3,000th adoption of the year – a dog named Chapelle – go to a new home.
Moreover, according to the AHS, it's been a record year for the shelter's feral cat program – a trap-neuter-release campaign designed to limit the number of homeless cats born on Austin's streets. As of mid-December, the shelter had fixed its 17,000th feral cat since 2007.
In other good news for the AHS, the shelter last week received a donation of just more than $10,000 from Jiffy Lube.
Looks like there'll be some scratch available to keep fixin' those cats in 2011 ...
