Early voting turn-out in the June 12 ACC and AISD run-offs was dismal enough: No point in making the situation even worse by going to the wrong polling place tomorrow. So Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir has sent out a reminder that the number of polling locations drops from the 195 used in the first round to 117.
The drop in numbers neither benefits nor damages the county, since ACC and AISD cover the costs (though it's doubtful they'll be upset about the lower bill.) However, the bigger issue was just getting space. DeBeauvoir said, "We often face hurdles in securing voting sites for Saturday elections in June. Some of our regular facilities are booked for events, such as weddings, months in advance." Other are under maintenance, while a few were taken off the list because they'll be unusably hot and sticky in the June weather.
You can download a PDF or an Excel spreadsheet of all the merged locations from the Travis County website.
